ABOUT FILIGREE:
With filigree being an art that is signature to Federico’s homeplace of Oaxaca, one thing he knows when it comes to this tedious artform, is who stands out above the rest & who is just ‘average’. And just because an artist has dabbled in it, doesn't mean they’re good, since it takes years & years of repetition work to be at a master level. This is one reason why you’ll find Federico’s filigree jewelry always being at a “top shelf’ level, so to speak, since he always has “Master” filigree Oaxacan artists make the jewelry that bares his name. Like the saying goes, “If you want something done right, you go to the best”, especially when your name is behind it!

The experience of the artist will show through in their work & any mistakes will show through if their mathematical skills are off when they are wrapping all those little tiny circular formations round & round! If you zoom in on the photos, you can see that if the circular filigree forms weren’t mathematically exact as they are, these would not have the perfectly formed circle. IN other words, not only skill allows this to happen, but mathematics play a major role. Lastly, I do want to mention that when I purchased these directly from Federico, he was so super excited about the workmanship & knowing this art for quite awhile myself, it’s clear as day they were made with nothing but precision.
