Pre Eagle -Early 1940's Taxco-LOS CASTILLO -Small "COMMA" Design Screw Back Sterling Earrings with Cascabel Beaded Dangles-Design # 216

$185.00

These are made in a classic early 1940’s design and were designed by the well known Taxco family, "Los Castillo".. The beauty you’d find in many of their designs, was for the fact that many times they would step back in time, where they would bring ancient Aztec, Mayan motifs of Mexico ,but only with them, they would apply them in a metal art form.

The Castillo’s were some of the major players when Taxco was at its height, during the "Mexican Silver Renaissance" days & were producing some of the most amazing pieces that were done at the same time period as William Spratling, Hector Aguilar ,Fred Davis, plus so many more. Their work is highly collectible.

DESCRIPTION:

Designed for the woman who loves the historical beauty of Mexico’s past, but loves an understated earring at the same time. These are an earring that says a lot for their small size.

Made in a screw back earring, these have a ‘comma’ design.. Following the curvature of the comma, are 6 beaded cascabel dangles that really give these their charm! .I want to mention that because these ae made of plain sterling that have no stones to be removed, they can be easily converted to a post earring if you don’t do screw backs. If you go this route, it would be best to find a “Laser” jeweler to avoid losing any of the natural patina. A regular jeweler can do it as well (And would be less expensive) ,but being they use heat in order to solder, they would have to be re-oxidized when finished, since you’d lose the patina.(This service is something you would have to do,since I do not provide this service.

These earrings pre-date & lack the "Eagle" stamp that was put on pieces after the year 1948 for taxation on every piece being sold in & out of Mexico.
