FEDERICO’S RETAIL PRICE: $600
TURQUOISE PROVENANCE:
All of these cuts came from Larry Cooley’s turquoise collection. For those who have never heard the name, Larry happened to be one of the most reputably known turquoise vendors in the industry & so when artists like Federico were looking to buy, Larry was the guy that he, along with other top artists would go to when they wanted the best quality turquoise for their own designs.. Coming from an era when using nothing but the finest quality turquoise was at a high, Larry was selective about the grade of turquoise he carried, collected, sold, and that’s why his turquoise was so much in demand. Long story short, after Larry's passing, everyone wanted his whole collection, but because of Federico's long time connection with Larry & Larry's family, he was fortunate to purchase this 'once in a lifetime' limited & very pricy collection (This is reflected in price) These stones speak for themselves & once the collection is used up, there will be no more.
THE EARRINGS:
Coming from Federico’s “One of a Kind” line, these drop style cluster earrings may be on the ‘smaller-petite’ side but where the quality overrides their small size.
Anchored from a oval cut top,(Which my eye tells me that they could be from the Kingman mine) is a cluster square drop that is designed with 3 different shaped cuts of Sleeping Beauty.
Because of their size, allows them to be very wearable on the ears when it comes to their weight. So for those who can’t wear heavy, larger sized earrings, your ears will love you when you wear these! They are a 'one of a kind' earrings that can only be found here at Plata de Santa Fe Jewelry where you get nothing but the finest that bares Federico's name!
A NOTE:**Premium quality turquoise is getting harder & harder to find these days & since more & more mines are closed down & or depleted, just raises the price that much more & the more it becomes unavailable, the higher per carat each stone is.
In this business, you pay for what you get. And just like with any other gemstone, whether sapphires, rubies, diamonds, (or in this case turquoise) there are 'grades' with some being a lower grade, which are less expensive, while others are high grade and are more expensive.. Turquoise is the same, with the cost being higher for 'natural turquoise' that have a "high/excellent" grade. I always say "look at the price" & that should give you some clue as to how good something is, especially in jewelry. Though I must note, that anything with Larry's turquoise will always come with a higher price tag, due to the quality & limited supply***
Also, keep an eye out for more Cooley turquoise earrings that are yet to be listed! But in the meantime, check out all the earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings categories made with his turquoise
