THE ARTISAN-CHARLES BIRD

31 Year old Charles is a Kewa Puebloan artist whose determined to stand apart from the rest in the Kewa Village.. Having been inspired by his numerous award winning mother "Jolene Bird", who taught Charles, ”Look at everything as if it’s a mosaic subject”.. This is something that Jolene herself has made a career on, with going as far as creating a fully mosaic inlaid Gibson guitar, a mini Volkswagen beetle, chess sets, you name it! And she also taught him to never feel limited, since nearly everything & anything can be mosaic inlaid! . Charles still works very closely with Jolene to this day.

While staying close to his traditional, passed down techniques that come from his 'Ancestral Puebloan' ancestry, Charles gives a very contemporary, very artistic approach to many of his pieces. Being blessed with an artistic eye for design, his designs can be sometimes be abstract, since he refuses to do the same thing, the same 'ol way. I personally love his imagination, his creative artistry ,which makes each piece unique & different!

When he's not grinding,& shaping stones & shells to enter into shows, he spends time practicing Jiu Jitsu, which he has earned not only 2 silver metals, but has honorably taken home the gold metal award as well!

THE EARRINGS:

Mosaic inlaid with various colored stones & shells known to the Kewa Puebloan people,Charles hand cut & shaped the materials that he then carefully placed atop of “Amber Resin”. Even those these have a bit of length, but by using this material for the backing, as well as omitting any metal, makes them very light & easy on the lobes, while giving you all the charm of Puebloan jewelry!

Both pairs are made the same way, with the same length, but the only difference is, is where he placed the material from one pair to another. So I made it to where you can choose one pair you might like, over the other.

PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING

*****I do not consider myself a 'professional photographer" but I do try my hardest to give you photos that are 'realistic" in color as much as I can. One thing that you have to realize however,is that all monitors are different, so the materials can look brighter (or duller) from one computer to the next. If you need more photos, in different areas of lighting, please let me know! *****

To give you close up photos, pictures tend to make the item look much more larger & everything is more magnified than in actuality. So to get an accurate idea of how big these are, please either check them out being worn to get a rough idea (photo 2 and 13) or if you have one, you can pull out a tape measure & compare to my given measurements.
