THE ARTISTS:
NUMEROUS Award winners "Dennis and Nancy Edaakie" were/are one of the most respected and highly sought out couples when it comes to all of Zuni art. And it was this couple that put the "EDAAKIE"" name on the map & now when we hear this name, one thing comes to mind & that is: "Impeccably Made" Zuni mosaic art!
Dennis was born on January 24th, 1931 in Zuni, New Mexico of the Parrot Clan & served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Korea. He began making jewelry in 1954 and was taught by his uncle Jacob Haloo. Nancy was born on February 4th, 1937 in Zuni, of the Frog Clan & together they are a duo of what is considered “Old Masters” of "Exquisite/Fine Zuni Mosaic Inlay". They did some of the most intricate and detailed completely handmade inlay work ever done. Their impeccable workmanship not only refers to the stone/shell inlay they were so highly known for, but their gold and silver work, as well.. They are listed in just about every Native Jewelry book and their pieces are found in many Native American museums and galleries across the U.S., as well as Internationally.
Unfortunately Dennis passed away while taking a walk in a friends corn field back in 2008 and from what his cousin "Raylan Edaakie" told me, they believed he died of a heart attack. Nancy is no longer producing jewelry & has passed on all the decades of valuable knowledge & techniques to their children.
With this couple's extreme popularity, once all their jewelry is sold & gone into collector's hands, there will be no more. These are collectible pieces of art that can be passed on from generation to generation.

THE PENDANTS:
Mosaic ‘flush’ inlaid by impeccable skilled hands, this is art that deserves appreciation & especially when stones & shells are cut & shaped at this small of level. Each and every part of these picturesque pendants are works of art!
They all have the same weight, the same size, same size bale, the only thing that changes from one to the other is the bird & where the material is laid.
Each have a small bale opening, so I would not go any larger than a 3 mm diameter chain (or beaded necklace) to hang it from.
** I thought I should mention this, that even though these are older-but never worn pendants, they did come to me with a 'polished' finishing. **
Please zoom in on the photos, since they play a role to the description. In the photos you’ll find the materials, the size & the weight for each pendant.
